Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, is one of the most mysterious estates in England. At the end of the nineteenth century its thousand acres were at their zenith, but only a few years after the Great War of 1914 bramble and ivy were already drawing a green veil over this 'Sleeping Beauty'. Offering over 200 acres for exploration, from Victorian Productive Gardens and the surrounding Pleasure Grounds to a sub-tropical Jungle valley brimming with exotic foliage; woodland and farm walks through beautiful Cornish countryside, where sustainable management practices promote diverse habitats and a pioneering Wildlife Project
offering visitors a close-up view of native wildlife. Please visit: www.heligan.com or telephone 01726 845100 for dog policy information.

Devon is one of the UK's most attractive and diverse counties with two dramatic coastlines, lots of beautiful scenery including two areas of moorland on Dartmoor and Exmoor
and plenty of areas for the whole family to walk, including your dog.
Whether it is a half-day visit or a weeks holiday one of Devon's top attractions will be able to provide entertainment for all the family come rain or shine.

Visit historic villages like Clovelly and walk the cobbled streets
down to the harbour side or drop into some of the National Trust
properties like Castle Drogo, Arlington Court and Saltram House
where acres of rolling grounds are open for dog-walking,
followed
by morning coffee or afternoon tea at one of
their cafés selling
local produce.
Take your dog aboard one of the vessels at Stuart Line Cruises where you can view the Jurassic coast as your dog dreams of his latest escapade on the local beach.
Alternatively, you could always travel the steam train from Buckfastleigh down the River Dart with the South Devon Railway and amble around the historic town of Totnes.
Return to Buckfastleigh and make your way to Canonteign where you can stroll through the woodlands to the top of the highest falls in the UK.

Once you have experienced the sights,

Bedgebury Pinetum and Forest is one of the South East's most popular and successful visitor attractions, and Bedgebury now has new all-ability scenic walking routes.
The National Pinetum at Bedgebury is the finest collection of conifers on one site in the world. The 300-acre Pinetum contains nearly 10,000 trees and shrubs from across five continents, many of them rare and endangered.
As well as playing an important scientific role in international conservation, the National Pinetum is a beautiful and tranquil place to walk, picnic and enjoy nature away from the stresses of everyday life.
Each season offers different experiences and delights: In winter, a light dusting of snow or a sharp frost transforms the Pinetum into a winter wonderland. Spring brings a kaleidoscope of azaleas, daffodils, rhododendrons and bluebells. In summer, the many giant specimens cast deep shadows and dappled shade, creating a cool oasis in the warmth of the sun. And autumn sees the fiery leaves and brilliant berries in sharp contrast to the background of rich green conifers.
Open every day except Christmas. 8am till dusk (8pm in summer)
The Pinetum may close in extreme weather.
