The Crown and Castle dates back to the C16th and stands on the corner of Orford's old market square.
It has a south-facing garden to the rear, where guests can eat al fresco in the summer.
Completely refurbished it provides 18 sylish and modern bedrooms, all en-suite, and divided between the hotel and the garden rooms. There are 5 rooms in the garden specifically designated for dogs and which have the benefit of a
semi-private terrace with a great view of the castle.
The hotel provides towels, blankets and a doggy welcome bag plus a hosing down area for dogs that really have enjoyed their walk along the river Alde. There is even a doggy table in-between the bar and restaurant for those owners that cannot bear to be separated from their animals at meal times. There is lots to do and see in the area: Orford Castle Keep faces the hotel; there are wonderful sea and woodland walks nearby and Orford Ness, a 12-mile long shingle spit is now a National Trust owned bird sanctuary.
Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings and the wide horizons of the East Suffolk countryside are all around
